About Bahamas Lifeguards

Hi, I'm Dakota and I was inspired to launch Bahamas Lifeguards because the Bahamas is my home away from home. I am currently studying computer science and entrepreneurship at the University of Alabama. I have been a certified American Red Cross Lifeguard with CPR certification for the past four years. In addition to certifications in Child Safety and Prevention of Sexual Abuse, my work experience includes working for my local YMCA, as a swim instructor at the top Dallas Swim School and as a lifeguard employee for my local township and the exclusive Half Moon Bay pools in Westchester County. I have guarded pools at private events from the Hamptons to Greenwich, CT to Naples, Dallas, Scottsdale, and Seattle.All Bahamas Lifeguards are thoroughly vetted, trained, supervised, and approved by me personally, ensuring that their certifications are up to date, that they have completed all required training, and that they meet our high standards for excellence in customer service and satisfaction.My Origin Story

When I was ten, my best friend and I nearly drowned in a local river.

I was a capable swimmer but not a strong one. On the way to the river, my dad asked my friend if he could swim and he said yes, that he had learned to swim at this very river. There was a strong current that day which prevented our efforts to reach a platform rock in the middle of the river. The current pushed my friend and I out towards the middle of the river and while I was able to stay afloat, my friend was not. In fact, he didn’t even know how to tread water. Seeing the two of us struggling, my dad swam toward us and grabbed me while loudly alerting the lifeguard on duty that my friend required assistance. The lifeguard immediately dove in and saved my friend from drowning. He carried him to the shore where my friend eventually recovered.That moment gave me a new appreciation for the dangers that water presents to those who have not mastered their swimming skills, and inspired me to create a lifeguard business that will ensure the safety of all swimmers we are hired to protect.My Non-Profit OVERWATER funds free swim lessons to children from underserved communities around the country and creates videos to help lifeguards, babysitters, and parents become better at keeping their children safe.
